Hannay, in London only three months after growing up in South Africa, had only one clue to the cult called Black Stone, a few words --"Thirty-nine steps - I counted them.... "scrawled by a dead man. And not the least of Hannay's troubles was he was a fugitive, wanted for murder. Adapted to the big screen in 1935 by Alfred Hitchcock. Text is clean and unmarked, tight and square, with only some edgwear on the corners of the cover and back. The cover art is by William Teasonand is without tears or chipping or significant creasing.
